We stayed at Whispering Winds for a week towards the end of June. Chuck and Anjar could not have been any nicer. They did everything possible to make our stay there very enjoyable. We have never stayed anyplace that was as clean as Whispering Winds and would not hesitate to recommend it to family and friends.
Their story begins when Chuck left his childhood home in Onida, South Dakota to find his place in the world. He settled in the Black Hills and quickly landed a job at Sylvan Lake Resort, where he met Anjar, a young lady from Indonesia who happened to be traveling through the United States. She was working at the resort to save money to continue her travels. Shortly after meeting, Chuck and Anjar married, moved back to Onida and started a family.
For the last several years they have been busy building a life with their two boys. But the Black Hills called them back- a place with special memories that they wanted to share with their children. This was the driving force behind their decision to purchase and run the resort. Their goal is to make it a special place for their family and yours. Please come and join us at Whispering Winds, reconnect, unwind and fall in love again.

We spend three nights here in this August. The cabin was very comfortable and the owners are as nice as can be. The location is convenient to all the Black Hills attractions. We would not hesitate to stay here again.
This is the third time we have stayed at Whispering Winds cottages! We have a 5 year old, a 3 year old, and a 20 month old. This was the perfect place to stay! We stayed in the Sportman's cottage and it was perfect!
We stayed 4 nights and were very pleased with everything. Jim and Marla were very friendly and accommodating, Our cabin was very nice, and the property was beautiful. The perfect spot for all of the places we wanted to visit. The only thing we'd do differently next time is allow more time in our days to relax and enjoy the property.
We were on a motorcycle trip going through there the middle of June. Jim was the best Inn Keep ever. He was great to talk to. The place is set up perfectly. The cabins were great. The outside area was fantastic. He has grills that you can cook your food on. He also has fire every night. I will go back for sure. I highly recommend that you stay here when you are passing through.
